What about my research?

A general FAQ for researchers and graduate students can be found here.

Information on the university’s phased back to research plan can be found here. It includes information about the four-phase plan, safety protocols, research risk assessments, and review committee timelines.

Health, Safety and Wellness provides safety related resources, including a link to the research safety training module that you may be required to complete prior to reinitiating your research.

Students returning to research must have a valid course registration. Late registration is possible in either research credit hours or the zero tuition/zero credit hour course. More information can be found in this FAQ about Spring/Summer/Fall registration.

What about Spring/Summer/Fall registration?

Consistent with Spring/Summer term, most students still have lots of work that they can be doing to continue their studies. However, we realize that there are many extremely valid reasons why you may be unable to register at this time.

If you are required to maintain full-time status but are unable to register in Spring/Summer/Fall for some reason, please consult our updated Spring/Summer/Fall Registration Option Flowchart and review this more in-depth FAQ before completing a Request for Registration Accommodation During COVID-19 form.

International students should apply for a waiver of registration to avoid paying fees, provided that there are no non-visa related reasons for you maintain full-time status (see above).

What if I can’t get the documents I need to complete my application?

Consistent with normal practice, unofficial transcripts will be accepted via email for the review process only. However, offers of admission are still conditional upon receipt of official transcripts and/or degree certificates. Due to Covid-19 related restrictions, we are currently accepting electronic copies of official documents from verifiable institutional email accounts.

As per normal, evidence of English language proficiency (ELP) is encouraged but not necessarily required at the time of application, but offers of admission remain conditional upon receipt of official documentation. Along with all ELP tests that are normally accepted, Duolingo scores are now being accepted on a temporary basis.

Education, Engineering and Applied Science, and Computer Science programs continue to temporarily suspend mandatory WES evaluation of international credentials until further notice.

What about my scholarship?

Current scholarships are unaffected and adjudication of competitions is proceeding as normal. We are not currently anticipating any issues with Fall scholarships or fellowships, but we will continue to monitor the situation and develop contingencies as necessary.

What do I do about my thesis defence?

All defences are currently being completed at a distance (through online mechanisms such as video conferencing) until further notice. Click here for more information.

What about my graduation?

You can request a letter of completion in instances where graduation approvals have been delayed due to Covid-19 related disruptions.

Grading Options for the Winter 2020 Semester
